The network "Civilscape" was founded in Florenz in 2008 by 26 NGOs from six European countries to support and realize the European Landscape Convention. With its activities Civilscape wants to contribute to create awareness of the qualities of European landscapes. The network is an international forum for the exchange of knowledge in landscape management and planning, and the development of strategies to support an active landscape policies. Further the cooperation in joint international projects shall be promoted.
“Landscapes” are an essential component of people’s surroundings, an expression of the diversity of their shared cultural and natural heritage, and a foundation of their identity. Because of that the VIA REGIA can better be experienced as an defining element of cultural landscapes through a cooperation with Civilscape.
