Official Announcement of the VIA REGIA amateur radio certificate
The VIA REGIA is the oldest and longest road link between Eastern and Western Europe. The route exists since more than
2.000 years and connects 8 European countries through a length of 4.500 km. For the promotion of the amateur radio activities
along this historical road the DARC Ortsverband Schöneck (F75) lends the Via Regia award to all licenced radio amateurs and
SWLs for proven contacts after January 1st 2010.
The certificate can be requested on short-wave or metric wave. For obtaining the certificate 100 points have to be proved.
On short wave contacts with the following eight countries are necessary:
Every contact counts 5 points. Contact with a station within the regional association Schöneck (F75) or Nidderau (F31) counts
10 points. Contact with a club station of both local associationcounts 20 points.
On metric wave contacts with stations within the following Federal States are necessary:
These Federal States are situated along the „Hohe Straße“ (High Road) – an ancient route between Frankfurt ans Leipzig as
part of the VIA REGIA. Every contact counts 5 points. Contact with a station within the regional association Schöneck (F75)
or Nidderau (F31) counts 10 points. Contact with a club station of both local associationcounts 20 points. Contact with station
F75 or F31 is obligatory.
The award request with a GCR-List (list of QSL-cards) can be sent by email to viaregiaaward@googlemail.com.
There is no restriction of bands or mode of operation. Each station can be rated per volume only once. Relay or
echolink contacts are valid.
The award is free of charge and will be send in PDF-format. A printed DIN-A4-format version is available at
the cost price of 5€ (please ask for banking informations via email) on the post office way.
