The EUROPEAN CENTRE FOR CULTURE AND INFORMATION IN THURINGIA (EKT) acts as European contact point for the project VIA REGIA since it has been awarded as „Major Cultural Route of the Council of Europe“ in March 2005.
At present its team works in the following fields:
The team is complemented by trainees, collegiate research projects, volunteers.
The EKT is financed by donations, own resources, personal contribution and project grants.
It does not act profit-oriented and is unsubsidized.
The EKT developed as Europe-oriented cultural idea that lives through the creativity and the engagement of ist employees and friends, through the interest of ist partners in Thuringia and Europe.
Its aims are based on a wide definition of culture. In this context culture means the permanent development of the intellectual, sensual amd emotional relationships of humen beings to a social and natural environment.
Its intention is to make cultural processes experiencable as important parts of life in a free, creative, tolerant and democratic Europe and, with that, to make an active contribution to European integration.
The EKT acts as special-purpose business in the association NETZ – MEDIEN UND GESELLSCHAFT e.V..
