The European Centre for Culture and Information in Thuringia (EKT) applied for the acknowledgement of the VIA REGIA as Cultural Route of the Council of Europe on behalf of the Thuringian States Chancellery and with the mandate of the participants of the international symposium “VIA REGIA – European Cultural Route.
After a deep verification by the responsible Steering-Committee of the Council of Europe the theme has been choosen as "Major Cultural Route of the Council of Europe" because of its thematical and geographical broadness.
The Council of Europe publishes in a collectors folders single presentations of every awarded cultural route in English and French language.

Since the award of the project the EKT acts as its point of contact des Projektes since march 2005.
Bearer of the award is a network that has been found in autumn 2009. If you are interested in the Cultural Routes programme of the Council of Europe, want to join and develop the network and bear the title “VIA REGIA – Major Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” for own image and marketing purposes please contact us.
Participants of the VIA REGIA network can point the award of the Council of Europe out with a sign auf die Auszeichnung durch den Europarat aufmerksam machen.
Using the title “VIA REGIA – Major Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” is disallowed without explicit authorization and signing a written agreement that declares the membership in the network.
